Freiburg,

capital of the Black Forest, close to France and Switzerland is a world open university-town, where tradition and modern life as well as nature and culture form a heady mix to enjoy. The idyllic historic city-centre with plenty of interesting old buildings, quaint lanes and medieval water channels (“Bächle”) and its dominating cathedral, which took 300 years to be built and that is recognized as one of the most outstanding gothic architecture in Europe. The historic city-centre is the vibrating heart of today’s Freiburg with its 210.000 inhabitants and its huge pedestrian zone invites you to go shopping.

Freiburg offers a wide variety of theatre and concerts, many museums and art-galleries, fêtes and festivals. It is the cultural centre of south-west Germany. There are many different possibilities for leisure, sport and to relax. Freiburg ist the city of Germany with the most vineyards and sunshine. It is famous for its wine and cuisine. Nowadays Freiburg developed a reputation in the fields of environmental protection and ecological urban development.
