Freiburg is the cultural, economic and administrative centre of South Baden and, as such, is the pivotal point for the Upper Rhine region that transcends national borders. Freiburg is also the gateway to Black Forest.

From the heart of Freiburg it is only 1 hour by car to the swiss border at Basel, and just half an hours’ drive to the Rhine Bridge, which leads into France at Breisach. Freiburg has long been a firm champion of active and intense cross-border co-operation within the three-countries-region.

Don’t miss the historic centre (pedestrian zone) with its little streams called “Bächle”, the cathedral with its cathedral square and the picturesque Konviktstraße (street).
