Mulhouse is a major cultural centre. The “Filiature” complex for example, houses a theatre of national importance that is home of the Mulhouse Symphony Orchestra and the Balet du Rhin.

Every year two unrivalled music festivals take place: the “Bach-Festival” and the “Jazz in Mulhouse Festival”. Mulhouse has also the most important concentration of technical museums in Europe, including the National Automobile Museum (with the unparalleled Schlumpf collection of Bugattis). The French Railway Museum „Cité du Train“, the Fabric Printing Museum and the Electrical Energy Museum „Electropolis“ are other examples.
