Nature makes the Black Forest worth visiting

naturally beautiful

Floodplain landscape and vineyards, clear heights, wide open valleys, dense woods, steep mountains, smooth mountaintops – in the Black Forest nature can be experienced in every type.

Whether you prefer reaching for the stars or roaming through the forests – we can confidently leave the decision up to you. For we know: You will feel comfortable in the sunny Southwest in any case!

The post-card like sites are still existing here: Remote Black Forest farms, nestling to the meadows on the mountainside with their grand rooftops, dreamy lakes, calm high moors and romantic canyons.

Whereas the Southern Black Forest holds the German mountain ranges’ highest mountains (except of the Alps) and terrific panoramic views on to the Swiss Alps can be enjoyed, the northern part shows great landscapes of forests and dreamy valleys. Along the side of the Rhine the famous wine regions Markgräflerland, Kaiserstuhl and Ortenau are growing excellent wines.

Nature park Southern Black Forest

People creating their homeland

The Black Forest and its pre-mountains are divided into two bordering nature parks: the nature park Black Forest Centre/North with an expansion of 3,750 square kilometres and the nature park Black Forest South with 3,330 square kilometres.

Green meadows and mixed forest are alternating in the Southern Black Forest. Little hamlets or isolated farms are lying on large area clearances. The nature park Black Forest South is in Elzach and Triberg directly linked to the nature park Black Forest Centre/North and reaches out until the Upper Rhine at the Swiss border.

In the east it stretches out until Villingen-Schwenningen and Donaueschingen, in the west it encloses the pre-mountain area of Freiburg and Emmendingen. A visit of the centre for nature conservation of Southern Black Forest on the Feldberg will give you an impressing overview about the cultural and natural landscape.

Opened daily from 10 to 17 hours (Tel. +49 7676 9336-30).
