The tourism industry is one of the most important industries in the Black Forest. It contributes more than 5 billion euros to the gross domestic product and is the biggest employer in the region as it provides 137,000 direct jobs.
The annual budget of the Schwarzwald Tourismus GmbH (STG) for tourism marketing accounts for 3.5 million euros. It is composed as follows: 1.8 million are membership fees out of the region, 1.3 million are earned by the STG itself and the Land Baden-Württemberg contributes 350,000 euros to the region’s marketing.
The STG succeeded in gaining considerable commercial enterprises in the region as partners since 2006. The Europa-Park Rust, the WeberHaus GmbH World of Living, the Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus, the Fürstlich Fürstenbergische Brauerei KG, the Peterstaler Mineralquellen GmbH, the Schinkenräucherei Hermann Wein GmbH, Schmuckwelten Pforzheim and the Merida Centurion Germany GmbH have contracted a long lasting partnership with the STG and are additionally contributing some money to the marketing budget.
